McClintock junior leadoff hitter Andi Blodgett led the Chargers, going 4 for 4 with a walk, a double, two runs scored and two RBI as McClintock broke it open late against Mesa High.
McClintock senior pitcher Shealynn Zimnick turned in another solid outing, limiting Mesa to one unearned run on five hits and no walks. Zimnick also had the key hit, a three-run double off the top of the wall in center field in the fifth that finally got the Chargers on the board.
Senior Madison de la Torre was 2-for-3 for McClintock with three runs scored, and junior shortstop Mary Mentz was 2 for 4 as Mesa burned through three pitchers, using two twice in trying to slow the late Chargers' surge.
McClintock junior Shannon Geraty spearheaded the defense, making two fine plays in center field, a running catch and a sliding one. Mesa was led by freshman Jasmine Tobin, who was 2 for 3, including an RBI single in the second inning that gave the Jackrabbits an early lead.
