McClintock avenged a 24-6 loss in the Marcos-McClintock Spring Break Invitational and matched its season win total (nine) from last year with a 5-3 road win Friday at Mesquite.

Shealynn Zimnick struck out five without walking a batter, giving up just two earned runs in improving her record to 8-6 on the season. Zimnick's line drive RBI single to center, followed by Shannon Geraty's RBI double scoring Zimnick, were the big blows in McClintock's five-run third inning. The Chargers also got three bunt singles from Andi Blodgett and two hits apiece from Dian Nordstorm and Audra Emmerson,

For Mesquite, leadoff hitter Ashley Michelina was brilliant at the top of the order, going 4-for-4 with three stolen bases and scoring two runs. Brittany Holland and Ryan Herzog also had two hits each for Mesquite, while Taylor Cullen only gave up two earned runs and left 10 McClintock runners stranded on base, keeping the Wildcats in the game.
