Friday roundup: Dobson to play Brophy in semifinals

Jeff Hart had 17 points as Phoenix Brophy beat McClintock 61-37 to advance to the semifinals of the McClintock Holiday Shootout at McClintock High School Thursday.

Nick Rivers added 15 points for the Broncos, who will play Dobson at 7 p.m. today at McClintock.

Also at the McClintock Shootout, Nick Markovich scored 22 points to lead Basha (9-4) to a 73-53 win over Chandler (3-8). Eliado Rubio led the Wolves with 28 points.


Mountain View lost to South Medford (Ore.) 68-65 in the Les Schwab Invitational in Portland, Ore. Harper Kamp scored 24 and Brendon Lavender added 17 for the Toros (10-2).

Mountain View next plays Aloha (Ore.) today.…

Red Mountain defeated Phoenix North 81-79 in triple overtime in the Gilbert Holiday Invitational. Enos Leade led the Mountain Lions with 17 points.…


Mountain View knocked off Lone Peak (Utah) 53-38 in a Nike Tournament of Champions II matchup at Hamilton High. Brooke Jackson scored 17 points to lead the Toros (13-0), who will face St. Mary’s (Calif.) today at 5:30 p.m. at Hamilton High.…

Corona del Sol beat Tucson Salpointe 44-37 in the Nike Tournament of Champions II at Chandler High School. Ashley Espinoza led the Aztecs (5-10) with 11 points, and Kim Pestalozzi added 10. Corona got some revenge as it beat the same Lancer team that it lost to in its first game of the season by 17 points. Samia Stokes scored just two points for Corona but pulled down 19 rebounds. The Aztecs will play Susan Miller Dorsey (Calif.) at 5:30 p.m. today, also at Chandler.…

Skyline played three games in the Coyote Classic at Centennial High School in Peoria. In the first game (the quarterfinals), the Coyotes beat Glendale Apollo 51-43, led by 18 points from Erin Goodman. In the semifinals, Skyline lost to Glendale Cactus 44-35. The Coyotes (15-3) then beat Cactus Shadows 52-38 in the consolation game, led by 18 points and nine assists by Ariana Baron.


Katie Shepherd and Carrie Whigham scored first-half goals, and the Desert Vista defense clamped down thereafter as the Thunder (13-2) beat Seton Catholic (11-2), 2-1 to advance to the semifinals of the Mustang Classic at Red Mountain Park in Mesa. Desert Vista plays Corona del Sol at 11 a.m. today.

Corona del Sol beat Red Mountain 3-0 led by a goal each from Lexi Schroeder, Whitney Miller, and Este Rea to stay undefeated (13-0-1).

Gilbert’s Ariel Cook scored two goals to lead the Tigers to a 5-0 victory over Highland to advance to the other Mustang Classic semifinal. Gilbert will face Mountain Pointe also at 11 a.m.
