Updated boys basketball rankings as of Monday, Dec. 24:

Division I

There wasn’t too much action last week, but Gilbert lost to drop to No. 8, while Pinnacle fell out of the rankings after going 2-2 in a Las Vegas tournament. Avondale Westview joins the rankings in place of the Pioneers, but there is a logjam just outside of the rankings. Highland, Mountain View, Red Mountain and Marcos de Niza all have cases to be in the top-10 but will stay out for now. There could be a big shakeup next week following the holiday tournaments.

Division II

3. Sierra Linda 15-1

4. Nogales 10-1

7. Poston Butte 10-2

8. Sahuaro 11-3

9. Salpointe 11-3

10. Greenway 10-2

Paradise Valley vaults back up to the top spot with a win over Shadow Mountain, and the Matadors drop to No. 2. Sierra Linda has won 13 in a row to stay at No. 3, followed by Nogales. Saguaro stays at No. 5 on the strength of a seven-game winning streak, followed by Catalina Foothills and Poston Butte, which were both idle last week. Sahuaro went undefeated last week to stay at No. 8, Salpointe was idle and sticks at No. 9, while Greenway won three games to remain at No. 10.

Division III

1. Gilbert Christian 12-0

2. Valley Christian 5-4

3. Scottsdale Christian 5-2

4. Florence 15-1

5. Window Rock 9-2

Gilbert Christian will get a big test this week against elite Division I teams Pinnacle and Corona del Sol at the VisitMesa.com Basketball Challenge, but no matter what happens, the Knights will still be the favorites in Division III. Florence lost its first game of the season last week to drop a couple spots, while Valley Christian won a pair of games to elevate to No. 2. Scottsdale Christian lost a game in the Horizon hoops tournament but also beat bigger schools Centennial and Peoria to stand pat at No. 3. Window Rock remains at No. 5 after winning two games last week.
