Outlook: The move down to 1A can’t come soon enough for the Gila Monsters, who are staring at a winless season.

Maricopa isn’t far off from being winless, but the Rams have beaten the teams they are supposed to — San Pasqual and Baboquivari — and have two region games left. If they win both, they’ll be in the playoffs.

In their two wins, the Rams have poured on the points, scoring 63 and 55, but in their losses, they’ve let the game get away from them late.

“These kids do have the tendency to smell the blood in the water as soon as they start scoring points,” Maricopa coach Tyler Brandt said.
