Sunrise Mountain and Elijah Castro fans stuffed the ballot box in American Idol-esque numbers this week.
Castro won the player of the week vote by a whopping 112 votes, with 130 in all. Liberty senior Paul Panaccione finished second with 18 votes while Peoria senior quarterback Nick Salute finished third with 13 votes.
Castro was nominated for his all-around breakaway ability, scoring on a 32-yard run, 33-yard reception, and 68-yard punt return in the Mustangs' 38-14 win at Verrado.
