Sean Schweichler scored two touchdowns late in the third quarter, while Williams Fields’ defense shut down visiting Canyon del Oro in the fourth, as the Black Hawks held on to defeat the Dorados, 27-23, on Friday.

After CDO scored a touchdown off a missed punt snap by Williams Field to go up 10 points, Schweichler went to work scoring from 25 yards out to cut the Dorados lead to three points, then broke loose for a 48-yard score to put the Black Hawks back in front.

Williams Field’s defense, led by Drew Burgesser who recorded a school-record six sacks on the evening, managed to keep Canyon del Oro off the scoreboard the rest of the way.

It was the Black Hawks' 50th win in school history in this, their sixth season.

Williams Field (4-0) got off to a quick start when Jalen Ross took the opening kickoff 71 yards for a touchdown to give the Black Hawks a 6-0 lead after the 1st quarter of play.

The Dorados (0-4) then scored 16 unanswered points before Williams Field’s Ray Velasquez ran for a score just before halftime to cut the deficit to 16-13 going into the break.

Notre Dame 49, Barry Goldwater 7: Nearly a year to the day that the late Scot Bemis coached his final game versus Barry Goldwater, Notre Dame and the Bulldogs took the field once again as a tribute to the former coach, as the Saints defeated visiting Barry Goldwater. Bemis, after taking a leave of absence following Notre Dame’s game against the Bulldogs (2-2) last year, lost his battle with lung cancer this past January. He was 45 years old and up to that point was the only coach the Saints (1-3) had ever known.

Queen Creek 40, Cactus Shadows 8: Queen Creek’s Matt Guida carried the ball 13 times for 261 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs to the victory. Guida had three big runs on the evening, including a 94-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, as well as runs of 70 and 56 yards respectively. He was responsible for all but 34 of Queen Creek’s 295 yards rushing. The Bulldogs remained undefeated at 4-0, while the Falcons dropped to 1-3 on the year.

Horizon 37, Deer Valley 14: Charlie Quinn rushed for 209 yards on 29 carries and four touchdowns to pace Horizon to the win. Led by two touchdown runs by Quinn, the Huskies (4-0) scored the 20 points in the third quarter to pull away from the Seahawks (1-4).

Poston Butte 52, Combs 6: Vinny Robles and Dante Romero combined for 183 yards and 3 touchdowns as host Poston Butte manhandled Combs. The Broncos rushed 38 times for 265 yards en route to their third win in four games. With the loss, the Coyotes dropped to 1-3 on the year.

Brophy 56, Sandra Day O'Connor 22: Led by quarterback Tyler Bruggman’s four touchdown passes, Brophy scored early and often in the drubbing of host-O’ Connor (1-3). The Broncos (3-2) took a 21-point first quarter lead thanks to two of Bruggman’s touchdown throws. Brophy running back Marche Dennard took care of the rest, scoring two touchdowns while rushing for 189 yards on 21 carries to help the Broncos win going away. Eagles quarterback Jarred Nelson, finished 21-for-29 passing for 250 yards and two scores in the loss.

Thunderbird 36, Paradise Valley 20: Knai Benoit had 29 carries for 173 yards and four touchdowns as Thunderbird jumped on visiting Paradise Valley early and never looked back. P.V. quarterback Ryan Finley threw for 241 yards, tossed two touchdown passes to receiver Carl Westlund, and ran for another one, but it wasn’t enough for the Trojans (2-2). With the win the Chiefs improved to 2-2.

Higley 52, Apache Junction 7: Led by Thomas Bush and Mythias Young, Higley ran for 467 yards, steamrolled winless A.J. Bush rushed 17 times for 165 yards and two touchdowns, while Young carried the ball nine times for 135 yards and two scores. The Knights improved to 2-2, overall.

AZ Lutheran 28, Tempe Prep 18: Alfred Erives’ touchdown run with six minutes to go in the game was enough to spring host Arizona Lutheran to the upset over Tempe Prep, which upset Seton Catholic last week. Erives also caught two touchdowns as the Coyotes improved to 3-1 on the season. The loss was the Knights (3-1) first of the year.

Valley Lutheran 30, Gilbert Christian 12: Sam Gabrielson ran for four touchdowns to lift Valley Lutheran (4-0) over visiting Gilbert Christian (3-1).

Boulder Creek 42, St. Mary's 0: Trevor Miller was 10-for-19 passing for 221 yards and two touchdowns to lead Boulder Creek (3-1) over host-Saint Mary’s (1-3).
