Mesa High point guard Donte Medder gave a verbal commitment Thursday to play basketball at the University of Tulsa, Mesa coach Shane Burcar said.

Medder a 6-foot-2 senior, averaged 22.6 points a game and 4.8 assists per game this past season for the Jackrabbits. Medder also was considering UCLA, St. Mary's and San Diego State. Medder, like former teammate and standout Aaron Fuller last year, got late looks before getting solid opportunities. Fuller signed with Iowa last April and saw significant playing time there this season. Medder will sign next month when the late signing period arrives.
