Mountain View used free throws and a solid fourth quarter to beat Xavier, 46-36, on Monday in a matchup of top Division I girls basketball programs.
The Toros hit 6 of 9 free throws in the fourth quarter to help their cause after keeping a 34-29 halftime lead.
Sabrina Haines led Mountain View with 15 points, Armani Hawkins added 14 and Cherokee Davis scored 11 in the win. Senior Katie Werner led the Gators with 13 points, but the Gators otherwise struggled offensively all night.

Arcadia 8, McClintock 0: Megan Hawkins had a hat trick, Tasha Friedman scored twice, and Anna Workman and Mulki Mehari also scored for the Titans (6-1). Mehari got on the scoreboard for the first time this year, one-timing junior Missy Dominick's perfectly placed, unselfish crossing ball. The Titans remained hot, coming off the Horizon Tournament of Champions Silver championship. They host Marcos de Niza on Tuesday and travels to Shadow Mountain on Wednesday.
Valley Christian 7, Tempe Prep 1: Kelsey Reade had four goals and two assists for the Trojans. Sophia Ames added two goals making it four total on the season, and Keara Schromm would also get a goal tonight making this her third on the season.
