5A-I

1. Xavier 3-0

2. Hamilton 4-0

3. Gilbert 2-1

4. Basha 2-0

5. Mountain View 3-0

The top four teams remain the same, with Mountain View replacing Desert Ridge (2-2) at No. 5. The Toros' three wins have come against teams with combined records of 1-6, so it's unclear just how good they are. Much will be learned on Friday and Saturday at the Westwood Tournament of Champions, which features all of the top 5 teams.

5A-II

1. Horizon 2-1

2. Sandra Day O'Connor 3-0

3. Boulder Creek 3-0

4. Desert Mountain 2-1

5. Chaparral 2-1

Horizon holds the top spot despite suffering a four-game loss to 5A-I No. 1 Xavier. The Huskies face a tough road the rest of September, starting this weekend at the Westwood Tournament of Champions. They then face tough foes like Mountain Pointe, Centennial, Hamilton and Pinnacle in regular season matches. O'Connor and Boulder Creek jump to the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectively, thanks to their perfect starts. O'Connor knocked off preseason No. 2 Desert Mountain in the season opener and Boulder Creek handed Pinnacle (2-1) and Kingman (2-1) their only losses so far. Horizon, Desert Mountain, Chaparral, Centennial (2-0) and Ironwood Ridge (3-1) are all in the field at the Westwood Tourney that begins on Friday.

4A-I

1. Sunnyslope 3-0

2. Queen Creek 4-0

3. Cactus Shadows 2-1

4. Prescott 2-1

5. Apache Junction 3-0

Sunnyslope remains the rock solid pick at No. 1, handing three different teams their only loss of the young season, including Cactus Shadows and Prescott. Queen Creek and Apache Junction are off to perfect starts, thanks in part to solid play and moderate schedules. The Bulldogs are in the field of 36 for Friday and Saturday's Westwood Tournament of Champions, joined by fellow 4A-I teams Sunnyslope, Cactus Shadows, Saguaro (2-1) and Canyon del Oro (0-1).

4A-II

1. Seton Catholic 2-1

2. Amphitheater 1-0

3. Cactus 2-1

4. Paradise Valley 4-0

5. Liberty 4-0

Seton Bounced back from a season-opening loss to 4A-I Sabino to beat Cactus and Notre Dame. Paradise Valley and Liberty both move into the top 5 after identical 4-0 starts. The Sentinels are the lone 4A-II team in the Westwood Tournament of Champions.

3A

1. Monument Valley 4-0

2. Florence 2-0

3. Fountain Hills 4-1

4. Safford 2-1

5. Snowflake 1-1

A slight juggling of the rankings, as Florence and Fountain Hills move up to the No. 2 and 3 spots. Monument Valley didn't lose a set in its first four games and Florence got a big win over Safford it the Gophers' season opener.

2A

1. Thatcher 3-0

2. Valley Christian 3-0

3. Northwest Christian 3-0

4. Scottsdale Christian 5-0

5. Tonopah Valley 4-1

Horizon Honors (2-1) falls out of the rankings after losing to Phoenix Country Day (2-1) and Tonopah Valley moves in. Thatcher and Valley Christian are both in the Westwood Tournament of Champions, where they will likely take their lumps against the state's best big-school teams but come out of the tournament stronger for it.

1A

1. St. David 4-0

2. Mogollon 3-1

3. Veritas Prep 2-2

4. Joseph City 2-1

5. Valley Lutheran 0-1

St. David moves to the top spot after a fast start that includes wins over 2A teams Tombstone and Benson. Mogollon moves from No. 5 to No. 2 thanks to victories over two 3A teams (Show Low and Payson). Veritas Prep suffered defeates to a pair of unbeaten 2A teams (Northwest Christian and Tempe Prep), so it stays in the top 5, as does Valley Lutheran, whose only loss was to Veritas Prep.
