VX Roundup 3/22: Mesa slips past Red Mountain in boys tennis

Mesa beat Red Mountain in boys tennis action, 5-4, on Friday night.

Matthew Ledwith extended his singles record to 5-1 on the season with a win.

Also picking up wins in their singles matches, which came down to tiebreakers, was Justin Moyer and Kevin Cox for Mesa.

Both Moyer and Cox went down a set, came back to win the next set, which set up the tiebreakers.

The match was tied at three wins each after the singles matches.

The first doubles match was forfeited by Red Mountain and the Lions tied it up in the second doubles match.

With the match tied 4-4, the doubles team of Moyer and Cox finally prevailed, winning again in tiebreakers.

Boys Tennis

Scores:

Fountain Hills 7, Scottsdale Christian 2

Girls Tennis

Scores:

Fountain Hills 6, Scottsdale Christian 3

Baseball

Desert Ridge 15, Gilbert 0

Desert Ridge easily beat Gilbert in a game that was called after five innings due to the mercy rule. With the win Desert Ridge improved to 14-5 on the season. Gilbert falls to 11-6.
