VX Roundup 3/6: Willittes' complete game helps Desert Mountain top Notre Dame

Desert Mountain's Tim Willittes threw a complete-game two-hitter and the Wolves scored three runs in the middle innings to beat Notre Dame, 3-1, on Wednesday.

Willittes struck on seven with one walk to earn the win.

Ben Rodriguez went 3-for-3 with an RBI and Lucas Jacobi was 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Wolves. Ryan Scott's seventh inning home run for Notre Dame was the Saints' lone run, while pitcher Austin Schnabel pitched well in the loss.

Softball

Marcos de Niza 9, Arcadia 8:  After racing out to a 6-0 lead early, Korynn Molina's run-scoring hit in the seventh inning won the game for the Padres. Stephanie Montanez 3-for-4, 2 RBI; Niza Bilducia was 2-for-3 and Eryca Garcia went 2-for-4 with three RBI for Marcos de Niza. Arcadia scored four runs in the third inning and two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to take the lead, led by Sarah Phillips' two hits. Naomi Martinez earned the win in relief for the Padres.

Westwood 12, Maryvale 0:  Senior pitcher Lexi Valenzuela threw a no-hitter for Westwood in the win.

Chaparral 23, North 0:  Sera Talley picked up the win for the Firebirds.
