Regardless of what the calendar or thermometer says, fall begins this week because football begins in-full this week. Thanks to the shows put on by Mountain Pointe in the Barry Sollenberger Classic, not to mention Queen Creek and Campo Verde defenses, the appetizer presented last week has left us wanting seconds or thirds at the ‘ballin buffet.
But first, a public service announcement for both longtime followers and newbies to the high school football scene.
In trying to keep your plate full on Friday nights, be sure to join us for VX Live at http://varsity.evtrib.com every Friday night from 6:30 p.m. until well after the games end. We’ll keep you informed on what’s going on with nearly four dozen East Valley schools — and you can tell us what’s happening at your game.
Got an opinion or hot discussion topic about the night’s action, the season, Arizona high school sports, favorite sandwich, or the most underrated commercial of all-time (my vote goes for Reebok’s “Terry Tate: Office Linebacker”)? Impressed or incredulous about what you’re seeing? We can talk about it in VX Live.
Join us directly through our website from wherever you are. Or tweet at us @varsityxtra or #vxlive to join the fray.
We also plan to have a scoreboard and scrolling ticket so that when scoring updates roll in, you know about it. And, of course, check back late Friday night and into the weekend for all our stories, photos, our Honor Roll, and, if you miss VX Live the first time around, you can read through the night’s action in the Replay.
It’ll be enough to make you full, and, we think, satisfied.
