Anticipation is mounting once again as Chaparral hosts Saguaro in one of the best football rivalries in the state on Friday night.

It's the season opener for both sides and there's plenty on the line as both are preseason favorites to win state titles in their respective divisions.

And while the action on the field seems important, a glance at the home stands during the contest should keep things in perspective. Many Chaparral fans will be wearing blackout shirts with the words 'Play Big' emblazoned on the back. The shirts were made by Chaparral students Andrew Stachel and Jordan Gonen as part of 'Charity Wear', a non-profit group they founded last year as sophomores.

The organization has supported the relief efforts of Hurricane Sandy in the past, but this endeavor is particularly important. The proceeds from the t-shirt sales will benefit the Samantha Stachel Play Big scholarship established with Arizona State's Barrett Honors College.

Samantha, Andrew's older sister, died of Ewing's Sarcoma bone cancer on April 18.

Gonen said the scholarship "goes to individuals who exceed in the community or in school, and overcome obstacles in their daily lives."

The group's Facebook page can be found at https://www.facebook.com/CharityWear.
