Updated boys basketball rankings as of Monday, Dec. 31:

Division I

1. Cesar Chavez 13-0

2. Mesa 14-2

3. Desert Mountain 12-2

4. Corona del Sol 12-2

5. Chaparral 11-3

6. Highland 12-3

7. Pinnacle 11-5

8. Brophy 14-2

9. Gilbert 11-5

10. Westview 11-2

While there were a lot of games played this week, the top four remains the same. Cesar Chavez was idle but has a big tournament this week, while Mesa went 3-1 at the Under Armour Classic, Desert Mountain won the Holiday Hoops Fest and Corona del Sol went 3-1 at the VisitMesa.com Basketball Challenge. The Jackrabbits and Aztecs had a case to move up if either went undefeated, but they’ll stay in their spots because of the losses. Chaparral moves up a spot to No. 5 after winning a tournament at Bradshaw Mountain, and Highland jumps to No. 6 by claiming the McClintock Holiday Shootout title. Pinnacle is back in after playing well at the VMBC, while Brophy drops a couple spots after losing to the Hawks. Gilbert went 2-2 at the VMBC and stands pat at No. 9, while Westview sticks at No. 10. Dobson and Millennium drop out.

Division II

1. Shadow Mountain 16-2

2. Sierra Linda 15-1

3. Nogales 10-1

10. Sahuaro 14-5

The Trojans drop from the top spot to No. 4, and Shadow Mountain again takes over as No. 1, while Sierra Linda and Nogales each move up a spot. Catalina Foothills sits at No. 5, while Saguaro drops a spot after losing consecutive games at McClintock, albeit against Division I competition. Sunnyslope has won seven in a row, including a victory over Greenway, and enters the rankings at No. 7. Poston Butte drops a spot while Greenway jumps up one.
