Address: 1751 W. Indian School Road, Phoenix; Records: Valley Christian 6-1, 4-0 Metro; Phoenix Christian 4-2, 2-2.; Gametime: 7:00 p.m.

Outlook:

For Valley Christian, this game is about unfinished business. Last season, the Trojans beat the Cougars during the regular season. In the state finals, however, the Cougars turned the tables and upset the Trojans to win their second straight 2A title.

This year, Valley Christian has rolled through the Metro Region. Running back Reggie Sheffield has piled up 805 yards despite playing sparingly in three blowout victories. The Trojans also have been effective passing the ball. Quarterback Ben Bergsma has 693 yards passing, with six touchdowns and one interception in his last five games.

Phoenix Christian has been unable to mount a consistent offense. The Cougars don’t have a running back who’s rushed for more than 300 yards. Last year’s title game star, Rocky Gingg, has just 243 yards on the season and 80 in his last three games.

The Cougars’ freshman quarterback, Naje Singleton, has five interceptions and four touchdowns during his three-game stint as a starter. However, Singleton had his best outing in last week’s win over Phoenix Bourgade, completing 8-of-16 passes for 138 yards.
