The first round of the Division I state baseball tournament saw several upsets on Saturday.

None were bigger than No. 24 Corona del Sol’s, 6-5, win over No. 9 Hamilton.

The Huskies were the preseason’s number one ranked team.

On Saturday the host Huskies made a furious final inning comeback but it was not enough.

The Aztecs (14-12) built a 6-2 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning.

In the final frame Corona del Sol committed two costly errors which opened the door for Hamilton.

Billy Clemens came on in relief in the seventh inning and induced three consecutive fly outs with runners on first and second base to secure the win.

Josh Ethier got the scoring started in the first inning with a two run home run for the Aztecs.

Hamilton matched Corona with two runs of its own in the first inning but the Aztecs controlled the second through sixth innings.

Kyle Pechloff went 2-for-3 with a double to lead the Huskies.
