With a little more than two seconds left, Mesa's Jahii Carson hit a last second runner for his 36th and 37th points of the game to defeat host Red Mountain, 67-65, Tuesday night in a 5A-I Fiesta region boys basketball game.
Trailing by one point going into the fourth, the two teams battled back and forth until Carson's runner gave the Jackrabbits the lead for good.
Juan Zuniga led the Mountain Lions (7-12) with 18 points, while teammates Jordan Pratt and Eric Pacheco score 17 apiece.
Charles Croxen added 17 for the Jackrabbits.
Mountain View rebounded just enough from Monday night's loss to Mesa and held on for a 47-43 win over Basha in a 5A-I Central region matchup.
The game was tied 33-33 entering the final period and Mountain View took the lead and kept the lead by making free throws. Mitch Wallace and Mark Mazzucco both made big free throws in the last minute.
Wallace, who finished the game with nine points, made four free throws in the final minute and Mazzucco made two.
Jaren Sweeney led the Toros (15-2, 5-0) with 21 points. Anthony Hasenstein led the Bears with 22 points and Jaron Hopkins added 12.
Visiting Tempe beat Notre Dame, 66-59, in a 4A-II East Sky region game. B.J. Atkins led the Buffaloes (14-6, 5-2) with 20 points, while Jordan Baker and Nyial Watson each added 15 points.
Baker again had a great game as he added seven assists, six rebounds and two steals. Atkins added four steals.
Joey Sheridan led the Saints with 21 points.
Ryan Holt scored two goals and teammate Jordan Fletcher had one of his own to help Hamilton blank Chandler, 3-0.
Thanks to Rylie Johnson's two goals and suburb goalkeeping, Hamilton improved its record to 17-0-1 with a 3-0 win versus host Chandler. Taylor Korytko scored the other goal for the Huskies.
With the victory, the Huskies set up an important showdown with No. 1 ranked Xavier on Wednesday night at Hamilton.
On an assist from teammate Emily Vanderberg, Nikki Walts scored the only goal of the game, leading Xavier to a 1-0 victory over visiting Red Mountain.
The win improved the Gators record to 12-4 overall.
