Mountain Pointe beat Glendale Mountain Ridge, 6-2, in a Division I, Section III baseball game on Wednesday.
Kyle Detwiler pitched a complete game for the Pride (13-8-1, 6-5-1). Detwiler finished with 10 strikeouts and allowed six hits.
Ernie De La Trinidad led Mountain Pointe at the plate with a home run and two RBI.
Softball
Visiting Red Mountain dispatched Skyline, 17-3, in a non-sectional game. The Lions had five home runs in the game, three of which came in the fifth and final inning. Bre Macha led Mountain Pointe with four RBI and Jordan Beck added two RBI. Marian Ruf got the win with six strikeouts and had a grand slam in the fifth.
Host-Mountain Pointe beat Apache Junction 3-2 in a non-sectional matchup. Hannah Hoban led the Pride with a 3-for-3 effort, including a double and an RBI. Hailey Gonwa led the Prospectors with an RBI.
