Basha held on for a big 71-69 overtime road win over Laveen Cesar Chavez in a Division I boys basketball game of top teams.
Chavez hit a 3-pointer as time expired to send the game into overtime, but the Bears (9-0) outscored the Champions 13-11 in the extra session.
Torren Jones led all scores for Basha with 20 points. He also grabbed 11 rebounds to finish with a double-double.
The Bears had three other players score in double figures. Jaron Hopkins scored 16, Nate Markovich had 14 and Richard Holt added 10. Maurice Kirby nearly had a double-double with nine points and 17 rebounds.
In other boys hoops action, Perry defeated visiting Desert Ridge 67-60 despite Derreck Brooks' 26 points for the Jaguars.
Desmond Howard led the Pumas with 18 points. Lucas O'Brien added 17 and Jordan Howard finished with 13.
Gilbert scored three goals in the first half and went on to defeat host Mesquite, 3-1. Emanuel Castillo, Nathan Rice and David Varkevisser each scored a goal for the Tigers (8-1).
Mack Merchant scored Mesquite's lone goal.
Williams Field earned a road win thanks to London Rogers second half goal that gave the Black Hawks a 2-1 win over Higley.
Luis Reynoso scored the other goal for Williams Field.
Perry scored three second-half goals to break a 1-1 tie and defeat Desert Ridge, 4-1, on the road.
Briana Destefano, Marrisa Costagliola, Ainsley Warner and Sierra Hudson each had a goal for the Pumas (2-1).
Costagliola had 2 assists to go along with her goal and Brooke Hudson and Sean Salaerigas each had 1 assits.
Ana Morris scored the goal for Desert Ridge (2-4).
