Tina Wirth’s 21 points and 13 rebounds couldn’t pull Seton Catholic (27-6) to victory, as the Sentinels fell to defending 3A champion Eagar Round Valley 50-39 in a 3A state quarterfinal game Saturday in Flagstaff.

DESERT VISTA 59, CORONA DEL SOL 56: Kanisha Garrett-Charpten scored 16 points as the Thunder got past the visiting Aztecs in overtime to win the 5A Central Region championship.

Janelle Matthews and Kalei Nance each scored 12 for Desert Vista while Sy Janousek scored a game-high 25 points for Corona.

3A GIRLS BASKETBALL

QUEEN CREEK 62, SNOWFLAKE 45: Whitney Hardt scored 27 points and had 10 assists as Queen Creek advanced to the girls 3A state semifinals with a victory over Snowflake in Flagstaff. Karissa Daniels added 13 points, and Michelle Amete scored 11 for the Bulldogs (27-8), who will play Kayenta Monument Valley in the semifinals Friday at America West Arena.

5A BOYS BASKETBALL

MOUNTAIN VIEW 79, MESA 53: Tyler Molesworth hit seven 3-pointers to finish the game with 23 points for the Toros (24-2), who beat the Jackrabbits (23-3) in the 5A East Valley Region championship at Mesa High.

David Burrows had 15 points and Max Hall scored 10 for Mountain View. Lee Cummard had 18 points for Mesa.

HIGHLAND 85, CHANDLER 73: Riley McCormick 27 points, 13 rebounds and 18 assists led the host Hawks past the Wolves in the 5A Fiesta Region championship.

Ryan McCurdy scored 29 for Highland, and Lawrence Westbrook also scored 29 for Chandler.

DOBSON 69, RED MOUNTAIN 51: Will Donahue had 12 points for the Mustangs (22-8) as they beat the Mountain Lions for third place in the 5A East Valley Region tournament at Mesa High School.

Drew Thurston had 11 points, and Justin Taylor had 10 for Dobson. Jason Sherrer pulled down 10 rebounds for the Mustangs.

E.J. Taylor had 12 points for Red Mountain.

GILBERT 53, HAMILTON 51: The visiting Tigers (17-12) were led by Arturo Donzella’s 15 points as they edged the Huskies to take third place in the 5A Fiesta Region in double overtime at Highland High School.

Mike Neilson scored 14, and Stas Chomokos had 10 points for Gilbert while Travis Dixon racked up 21 points for Hamilton.

PHOENIX BROPHY 46, PARADISE VALLEY 35: Bryan Price scored 14 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Trojans fell to the Broncos in the 5A Desert Valley Region title game.
