Down two runs in the bottom of the seventh, Hamilton’s Ryan Peep smacked a walk off two-run double to propel the Huskies baseball team to a 7-6 comeback victory over visiting Horizon on Tuesday.

Down 6-3 heading into the seventh, winning pitcher Kyle Pechlof prevented Horizon from adding to its three-run lead and giving Hamilton a chance to mount a game-winning rally.

After falling behind 2-1 in the first thanks in part to a Connor Woods solo home run, Horizon answered the call in a five-run fifth inning thanks to George Jennings, who knocked in three runs with his only hit of the day to put Horizon up 6-2.

Hamilton (18-5) battled back, scoring one in the bottom of the fifth and one in the sixth to close the gap to 6-4, before completing the comeback in the seventh.

Peep finished the game 3-for-4, while teammate Skyler Palmero went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI.

Max Clang suffered the loss for Horizon (13-11).

Seton Catholic 6, Williams Field 5: With the game tied a 4-4, the Sentinels’ Ryan Bresnahan blasted a two-run walk off home run to defeat the Black Hawks in eight innings. Bresnahan finished 2-for-5 with three RBI. His teammate, pitcher Matt Pawlowski picked up the win. Pitching by Niko Villegas was stellar for Seton, striking out 12 in 5 1/3 innings, but Brady Ahern kept it close for Williams Field as he allowed only one hit in three innings of relief. Seton stays at No. 1 in the Div. II points while Williams Field holds on to a prospective playoff position at No. 23 as of Wednesday.

Mesquite 9, Gilbert 7: Jaeben Smith was 2-for-3 with 3 RBI and teammate Nick Daley went 3-for-3 with 2 doubles to lead the Wildcats to the 9-7 come-from-behind win. Pitcher Josh Webster picked up the win, pitching three solid innings.

Desert Mountain 15, Pinnacle 11: The Wolves (24-3) scored 13 runs in the fifth inning to overcome an 8-2 hole early to beat the Pioneers (18-11).

SOFTBALL

Desert Mountain 3, Pinnacle 0: The Wolves’ Andy Wellins picked up her 17th win of the season, striking out 10 in a shutout victory over the Pioneers (11-14). Cheyann Tucker drove in a run for Desert Mountain (20-7), while Lexi Pierson added a triple.

Mountain View 15, Westwood 1: Val Kaff, Jami Wickerman, and Sia Iongi combined to pitch a no-hitter while Kaff recorded her 300th strikeout of the season in a lopsided win for the Toros (20-5). Tosha Wickerman led all Mountain View hitters with four RBIs.

Red Mountain 10, Mesa 0: Bre Macha not only had a team-high three hits, including a double, but she also pitched a perfect game in a shutout victory for the Mountain Lions (23-5) over the Jackrabbits (5-20).

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Perry def. Combs 25-10, 25-6, 25-17: Evan Dorney and Mitch Harris each had three aces to help the Pumas (11-2) beat the Coyotes in three games.

Highland def. Williams Field 25-13, 25-21, 25-4: Ryan Morrison had 18 kills, Hayden Nielsen collected 9 kills and Collin Ward had 33 assists as the Hawks (11-1) defeated the Black Hawks in three straight games.

GIRLS TENNIS

Basha 5, Chandler 4

Senior Mia Contreras won both her singles and doubles match to lead the Bears to a 5-4 win over the Wolves.  The victory pushes Basha's record to 10-3 on the season and puts them just a win away from securing a place in the team state tournament.
