Address: 2902 E. Shea Blvd., Phoenix; Records: Horizon 6-1, 1-1 Desert Valley; Shadow Mountain 1-6, 1-1; Gametime: 7:00 p.m.
Outlook:
Starting 6-0 has its advantages.
Despite a 34-14 loss to Brophy last week, Horizon still has a playoff spot within its grasp.
“We didn’t play the way we wanted to,” Horizon coach Steve Casey said. “But it didn’t ruin our season.”
Horizon quarterback Dax Crum may need to hear those words entering this week’s tilt with Shadow Mountain. Crum completed only 8-of-25 passes for 95 yards against the Broncos, but Casey said the senior signal caller is as resilient as they come.
“I think he’s fine. Like most times, quarterbacks get too much credit when we win, and get too much criticism when we lose,” Casey said.
Shadow Mountain coach Josh SeKoch may have a little more to play for this week, as he was an assistant at Horizon before Casey took the head coaching job two years ago.
