Jaron Hopkins scored 26 points and Torren Jones added 25 points and a school-record 22 rebounds as visiting-Basha beat Yuma Kofa, 73-51, on Thursday night.
Basha (14-2) was outscored in the middle two quarters but did all their damage in the first and fourth quarter when the Bears outscored Kofa a combined 48-21.
In another boys basketball matchup, Nyial Watson led Tempe past Coronado, 70-52, in a Division II, Section III. Watson finished with a game-high 22 points and added seven rebounds and three assists. Oscar Lopez added 10 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals for the Buffaloes (12-4, 5-2).
Nicholay Zelenski, Beau Pixley and Daniel Alvarez led the Dons (4-11, 1-5) with 12 points each. Tempe has now won nine straight games and 10 of their last 11.
Girls Basketball
Sydney Wiese scored a game-high 29 points to lead Pinnacle past Desert Mountain 62-44 in a Division I, Section III game. Kristi Lee led Desert Mountain with 17 points.
Boys Soccer
Jorge Alvarez, Sergio Schwendener and Julian Galvan scored a goal each to lead Westwood past Red Mountain, 3-1, in a Division I, Section III match. The Warriors led 1-0 at halftime and scored two insurance goals in the second half.
