VX Baseball rankings as of March 1

Division I

1. Brophy: Dave Graybill and Chris Beall lead talented Broncos

2. Mountain Pointe: POY Kevin Cron is gone, but Joey Curletta and Co. have aims at a repeat

3. Hamilton: Mitch Nay the star but Huskies must replace top starting pitchers

4. Chaparral: Nick Diamond and Dylan Cozens lead the way as Firebirds make jump to top division

5. Mesquite: Garrett Jeffries should lead talented lineup, but no Zach Davies to anchor rotation

6. Desert Mountain: Drew McLaughlin, Tim Willites and Keaton Boysen help lead Wolves

7. Horizon: Huskies always in the hunt under legendary coach Eric Kibler

8. Boulder Creek: Tony Blanford one of state’s best pitchers

9. Pinnacle: Eric Melbostad leads another talented Pioneers group

10. Basha: Infielder Jamie Westbrook should shine

Division II

1. Saguaro: Defending champs have considerable talent returning

2. Sunrise Mountain: Brick Paskiewicz a standout outfielder

3. Liberty: UA-commit Nathan Bannister and Paul Panaccione lead squad

5. Arcadia: Andrew Naderer leads talented Titans

6. Cienega: Juan Gamez and Co. off to hot start

7. Notre Dame: Saints look to continue strong tradition against tougher competition

8. Canyon del Oro: Lot of juniors, but senior Calvin Drake is key

9. Salpointe: Drops down after 23-8 season in 5A-I a year ago

10. Seton Catholic: Pitcher Troy Ruggiero, many key lineup pieces return

Division III

1. Blue Ridge: Defending 3A champs shooting for repeat but must replace Nick Johnson

2. Estrella Foothills: Ryan Erazo is an impressive hurler on mound

3. Valley Christian: Jeff Paschke leads defending 2A champs

4. Payson: Five starters return as team looks to compete for title

5. Scottsdale Christian: Lost in 2A championship game to Valley Christian last year

Division IV

1. Desert Christian: Top hitters Trevor Beck, Daniel Riebe return

2. Yuma Catholic: Made 2A semifinals last year

3. Phoenix Christian: Young but experienced roster

4. Gila Bend: A.J. Young unquestioned leader

5. Tanque Verde: Defending 1A champs playing tougher competition this year
