Mesa High clinched its first-ever 5A East Valley Region boys title in its 27-year soccer history by defeating Mesa Westwood 8-0 on the road Wednesday.

The win also gave the program its 200th victory.

Cole Vickery led the way for the Jackrabbits (18-2, 4-0) with three goals. David Garcia, Daylen Ray, Devan Robinson, Scott Gomez and Irving Vega each added a goal for Mesa. Antonio Lara stopped three shots to earn his third consecutive shutout and his sixth of the season.

BOYS SOCCER

Spencer Thomspon scored two goals to lead Mountain Pointe to 4-0 5A Central Region match win over host Marcos de Niza. Ricky Jamison and Luis Cortes added the other goals for the Pride (13-4, 5-1). ...
