Mesa High clinched its first-ever 5A East Valley Region boys title in its 27-year soccer history by defeating Mesa Westwood 8-0 on the road Wednesday.

The win also gave the program its 200th victory.

Cole Vickery led the way for the Jackrabbits (18-2, 4-0) with three goals. David Garcia, Daylen Ray, Devan Robinson, Scott Gomez and Irving Vega each added a goal for Mesa. Antonio Lara stopped three shots to earn his third consecutive shutout and his sixth of the season.


Spencer Thomspon scored two goals to lead Mountain Pointe to 4-0 5A Central Region match win over host Marcos de Niza. Ricky Jamison and Luis Cortes added the other goals for the Pride (13-4, 5-1). ...

Gabby Valles’ hat trick and Amanda Morris’ three assists led Mesa to a 5-1 victory over Westwood at home in 5A East Valley Region action. ...

Freshman keeper Adrienne Prince recorded nine saves to lead Dobson to a 1-0 win over Mountain View for her fourth straight shutout. Shawn-tae Greene notched the lone goal for the Mustangs.


Mountain View got a 63-44 home win over Mesa to earn its third 5A East Valley Region victory. Harper Kamp scored 17 points for the Toros (16-3, 3-0). ...
