A collection of standout performances in Week 8:

Emanuel Gant, Tempe: The sophomore quarterback threw for 493 yards and five touchdowns and ran for another as the Buffaloes held off Arcadia.

Tarek Morrison, Desert Ridge: The sophomore quarterback ran for 202 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Mesa.

Matt Haggerty, Seton: It was a busy day for the senior wide receiver, as he had 103 yards receiving and two touchdowns and also returned a pick 32 yards for a score in an easy win over Higley.

Matt Guida, Queen Creek: The junior running back continued his impressive season with 13 carries for 154 yards and two touchdowns.

Darell Garretson, Chandler: The senior quarterback was 24-of-31 for 393 yards and a touchdown and rushed for two more scores in a win over Corona del Sol.

Conner Helvig, Gilbert: The senior quarterback had 201 yards passing and three touchdowns along with 113 yards rushing and another score.

Sean Schweichler, Williams Field: The senior running back carried the ball five times for 163 yards and three touchdowns.

Matt Young, Desert Vista: The Thunder quarterback was 15-of-21 for 259 yards and four touchdowns in two and a half quarters of play.

James Contes, Corona del Sol: The Aztecs took a surprising halftime lead on Chandler, led by Contes’ 217 first-half rushing yards. He finished with 227 and a touchdown.

Robbie Millward, Mountain View: The wide receiver had four catches for 110 yards and a touchdown with Toros star Clark Brown sidelined by a sprained ankle.

Ryan Finley, Paradise Valley: The Trojans star signal-caller threw for 351 yards and four touchdowns and ran for two more scores in a losing effort against Sunrise Mountain.

Joey Gatewood, Paradise Valley: Finley’s go-to wide receiver had 17 catches for 199 yards and two scores.

Evan Tompkins, Pinnacle: Tompkins blocked a field goal and ran it back 85 yards for a touchdown to spark the Pioneers’ win over Boulder Creek.

Jalen Brown, Mountain Pointe: The Pride junior had six catches for 121 and two touchdowns.

Emerson Carrethers, Chaparral: The junior running back had five carries for 139 yards and two scores.
