For the second game in a row host Williams Field scored early and often in a blowout win.

This time the Black Hawks jumped out to a 50-0 halftime lead on their way to a 57-6 win over Higley. Williams Field scored on all but one possession in the game as their lone punt came with 4:27 left in the fourth quarter. At that point the Black Hawks (6-0) had emptied their bench.

“The last two weeks offensively we have been the best we have been all season, "Williams Field coach Steve Campbell said. "Our defense got us through the early part of the season. Our goal going into the year was to work during the year to create a balanced attack. Right now we are starting to come into our own.”

The balanced attack of Williams Field was too much for the next door-Knights (the schools are 2.6 miles apart) to handle. On the opening drive of the game the Black Hawks converted two fourth downs and scored on a three yard run by Sean Schweichler. From there the Williams Field defense took over. Higley (3-3) did not have a first down until eight minutes remained in the second quarter. By that time Williams Field already had a 31-0 lead.

“They executed and we didn’t, we had too many turnovers and everything we didn’t want to happen happened in the first half.” Higley coach Eddy Zubey said.

The Knights lost four fumbles in the game all coming in Williams Field territory. Schweichler, Ray Velasquez and Cole Forsgren each scored two touchdowns while Jeddediah Fagg passed for two scores. For the game, the quick-striking Black Hawks had 375 total yards of offense compared to just 185 for Higley.

Cole Cook scored the only Higley touchdown of the game on a 1-yard run and Mythias Young carried the ball 17 times for 100 yards.

But this night belonged to Williams Field.

“Everything worked (Friday) for us," Velasquez said. "We had great rushing plays, we had a bunch of long pass plays and the defense also came through and got us the ball on those turnovers.”

Williams Field will put its perfect record on the line next week in a match up against Apache Junction. Higley will be at Queen Creek.
