Outlook: A year ago, Saguaro entered the season with great expectations.

Those were dashed in four miserable quarters against Canyon del Oro.

Tonight, the Sabercats enter the season again with high hopes — hopes coach Mike Reardon said they can’t have crushed the same way as last year.

“We can’t afford to come out and fall on our face as we did,” Reardon said.

The question is how do the Sabercats avoid another downfall against Canyon del Oro, which made it to the 4A-I playoff quarterfinals last season?

“We just have to get some consistency on both sides of the ball,” Reardon said. “I think we’re a step ahead of where we were last year at this time.”

The Sabercats run the spread offense and Reardon has named senior T.J. Rauch to be the man at the controls.

Address: 6250 N. 82nd St.,

Scottsdale Records: Canyon del Oro 0-0; Saguaro 0-0

Last year result: Canyon del Oro 33, Saguaro 6
