Paradise Valley quarterback Ryan Finley completed 27 of 36 passes for 229 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Trojans to a 38-23 win on the road against Arcadia on Friday night.

Finley and his teammates busted the game wide open in the third quarter, outscoring the Titans 21-7 to push Paradise Valley’s 17-2 halftime lead to 38-9 entering the final quarter.

Trojans’ wide receiver Joey Gatewood was on the receiving end of most of Finley’s throws. He collecting 11 catches for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Teammate, Bailey Thompson, did the job on the ground, finishing with 93 yards on 19 carries, while grabbing five catches for 38 yards and a score.

Arcadia out-rushed Paradise Valley 215 yards to 134, led by Steven Moala’s 94 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries for the Titans.

With the win, the Trojans improve their record to 5-2 overall on the year. The loss drops the Titans to 3-4.

Queen Creek 48, Higley 0: Matt Guida had touchdown runs of 50, 30 and 17 yards, while Mike Graff and Luis Moreno both had interception returns for scores (79 yards and 92 yards, respectively) to help the Bulldogs (7-0) remain undefeated in their home victory over the Knights. Guida finished with 140 yards on 10 carries, while quarterback Carson Jones went 17-for-25 for 242 yards and a touchdown. Higley fell to 3-4 overall.

Tempe Prep 48, Camp Verde 0: It was a family affair for Tempe Prep as brothers Levi and Jake Hertzler combined to score four times helping the Knights (5-2) to an easy road victory. Jake scored three touchdowns total, including two rushing and one on a 12-yard interception return. Teammate, Ahmari Underwood, had 83 yards and a touchdown, as well, to help Tempe prep rack up nearly 300 yards on the ground.

San Tan Foothills 49, Santa Cruz Valley 7: Simone Brown and Ricky Wilson led a Sabercats rushing attach that burned the visiting Dust Devils for 406 yards and six touchdowns. Brown led all rushers with 173 yards on just 10 carries, while Wilson finished with 121 yards and two scores on only seven carries. San Tan’s record is now 5-2.

Scottsdale Prep 74, Chandler Prep 30: The only thing that stopped the Spartans were when a couple stadium lights went out (literally) before the end of the game. Before then, visiting-Scottsdale Prep (7-0) used a 44-point second quarter to knockout the Titans (2-5). Spartans’ quarterbacks combined for a total of nine touchdowns led by starter Nick Smith who was 12-for-17 for 300 yards and six scores before being knocked out of the game by injury and replaced by backup Chad Weisbrod. The state’s leading scorer, Matt Munsil, had eight receptions for 165 yards and three touchdowns for Scottsdale Prep, as well as two interceptions on defense, one of which he returned 60 yards for another score.

Seton Catholic 53, Canyon State 0: Antonio Campanella had 131 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown in the Sentinels’ blowout victory at home. Seton Catholic (6-1) scored 26 points in the second quarter to take a 33-0 lead into the half.

Saguaro 76, Washington 6: Sporting pink uniforms to support Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Sabercats led 40-6 after the first quarter and never looked back versus the visiting Rams. Saguaro improved its overall record to 5-2, while Washington dropped to 2-5.

Phoenix Christian 35, Valley Christian 29: Down 14-13 going into the fourth quarter, the visiting Cougars (6-1) outscored the Trojans 22-15 in the final period, picking up their sixth win in seven games as Valley Christian fell to 3-4 in Div. V.
