Lucas Kirkland hit a tie-breaking home run in the fourth inning and Hamilton rallied past Red Mountain to eliminate the Mountain Lions from the 5A-I state baseball tournament with a 6-4 win Tuesday at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.

Marco Mosqueira, Kasey Pierson, Andy Workman, Matt Helm and Danne Quiroz also had RBIs for Hamilton (21-11). Hamilton will play Brophy on Thursday and the Huskies must beat the Broncos twice to get to the championship game on Saturday.

PHOENIX GOLDWATER 10, DESERT MOUNTAIN 9:

Eighth-seeded Barry Goldwater upset the top-seeded Wolves in eight innings to eliminate the Wolves from the state tournament.

PARADISE VALLEY 9, GLENDALE SANDRA DAY O'CONNOR 8:

Ryan Carlson had a two-run double to highlight a four-run fourth inning that helped the Trojans edge the Eagles in a 5A-II state tournament losers' bracket game at Tempe Diablo Stadium.

4A-I

CHAPARRAL 6, PHOENIX MOON VALLEY 3: f=Interstate-Light s=8 l=9 Senior Adam Bailey went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs to help Chaparral defeat visiting Moon Valley. The Firebirds (29-3-1) received a strong performance from pitcher Jason Jarvis. Jarvis (11-0) struck out four and only allowed one walk in six innings.

Cory Bannister pitched the seventh inning to earn his first save of the season. Kyle Williams had a triple and an RBI for the Firebirds.

In another 4A-I game, Tucson Sabino beat Tucson Canyon del Oro, 10-8.

TUSCON AMPHITHEATER 3, MCCLINTOCK 2:

Senior Mason Ramirez went 3-for-4 with two home runs and two RBIs but McClintock fell to Tucson Amphitheater in eight innings. Amphitheater was held scoreless until the sixth inning.

With a runner on first base in the bottom of the eighth and two outs for the Chargers (18-11-2), Ramirez struck out to end the game.

PINNACLE 4, TUCSON CATALINA FOOTHILLS 1:

Andrew Danner pitched six innings and hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning to lead Pinnacle past Catalina Foothills. Brett Nicholas came on in relief in the seventh inning and struck out the side to seal the victory. Nicholas also went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Pinnacle.

4A-II

ARCADIA 4, COTTONWOOD MINGUS 1:

Chris Giuntoli knocked in two runs to help the Titans move past Mingus in the quarterfinals at Papago Baseball Park. Kellen Hope (7-1) pitched a three-hitter.

NOTRE DAME PREP 10, DOUGLAS 5:

Mike Greco put Notre Dame on top with a three-run triple and later added a home run to lead the second-ranked Saints.

CACTUS SHADOWS 9, TUCSON DESERT VIEW 3:

Ollie Goulder went 2-for-4 and drove in five runs in Cactus Shadows' win over Tucson Desert View at Papago Park.

Matt Summers also went 3-for-5 with an RBI and Jerome Pena pitched a complete game and drove in a run for the Falcons (18-12).
