With a speed advantage everywhere on the field, Arcadia ran past host Coronado for a 56-6 victory in a 4A-II East Sky Region game Friday.

“We came here prepared well,” Arcadia coach Jim Ellison said. “It’s a region game and it’s our rivalry game and one thing I’m proud of these kids is that I don’t think they took it that seriously when they first got here, but now they really get up for it.”

Although the Titans (4-0, 1-0 East Sky) came out throwing on their first three plays, they soon turned to Bradley Tefft and the rest of their running backs to blow past the Dons (2-3, 1-1).

Arcadia racked up 305 yards on the ground, with 221 of those yards coming in the first half.

Tefft rushed for 104 of those first-half yards and finished with 133 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries.

“Bradley is Bradley. I mean, he’s special,” Ellison said. “His heart is twice the size of his body.”

The 305 rushing yards was 118.7 more than Arcadia’s season average.

“We have a great O-line,” Tefft said. “We have great chemistry and it’s getting better and better as we go along.”

The Titans showed plenty of speed on defense as well by continuously getting to Coronado quarterback Alex Buya and running back Blaze Dikeman.

“Buya’s a great athlete so we knew we had to stop him,” Ellison said.

A week after Buya played the role of hero in the Dons' win over Seton Catholic by rushing for 158 yards and two touchdowns, the Titans held him to just 83 yards. Forty of those yards came on Buya’s touchdown run in the second quarter.

Arcadia’s defense held Coronado to just 157 yards of total offense.

“The defense has really come around and they’re still young,” Ellison said.

Dikeman, who also had a big game last week with 191 rushing yards for the Dons, finished with only 27.
