Valley Christian football coach Kevin Allen has resigned, according to a school press release.

The Trojans went 11-19 in his three years at the helm, including 4-6 this past season.

"Kevin worked very hard in establishing a successful football program and leaves this program in great shape," athletic director Greg Haagsma said in a statement.

Allen's best team was his first in 2010. Valley Christian went 6-4 that year, losing to Scottsdale Christian in the first round of the playoffs.

"The decision to leave Valley Christian High School has not come easy and was finalized after long and careful consideration of all factors," Allen said in a statement. "I love this job - the duties of this job, the people I work with, and most of all the students I've had the opportunity to teach in the classroom and on the sports field. However, I feel the change will be beneficial to my long term career goals and objectives."

Valley Christian will begin looking for a successor immediately. Applications will be accepted for the next three to four weeks.
