Down a run with two outs in the bottom of the sixth, McClintock’s Andi Blodgett smacked a clutch two-run single to complete a nine-run rally as the Chargers’ beat visiting Westwood 10-9, Tuesday.

Pitcher Shealynn Zimnick (4-9) secured the victory, shutting the Warriors (2-13) out in the 7th and striking out 15 batters along the way.

Led by Madison Stayner who finished 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBI, Westwood jumped out early scoring three runs in the third, then tacking on six more in the fifth to take a commanding 9-0 lead before the Chargers (7-14) got things going by scoring four runs in the bottom of the inning.

Blodgett’s only hit in four attempts was the one that mattered most, as it capped off a six run bottom of the sixth and gave McClintock their first lead of the game.

The Warriors’ Savannah Shields finished 3-for-4, Paige Yaw was 2-for-3 and pitcher Lexi Valenzuela took the loss.

Gilbert 11, Red Mountain 5:  The Tigers earned a little payback from an earlier loss to Red Mountain with an offensive explosion in the win on Cancer Awareness day. Gilbert had 15 hits, led by Taylor McCord's 3-for-5 with five RBIs and Alex Astorga's three hits, three runs and two RBIs. Alex Astorga had three runs and two RBIs. Alyssa Fernandez hit two home runs and had three hits for the Lions, who also had 15 hits on the night. Bre Macha struck out eight in the complete-game loss for the Lions.

Desert Mountain 8, Pinnacle 3: Wolves’ pitcher Andy Wellins picked up her 12th win of the season while going 2-for-4 with four RBI from the plate to lead visiting Desert Mountain (15-7) over the Pioneers (8-12). Dani Doucx and Kori Gahn each had two hits apiece for Pinnacle.

Queen Creek 7, Williams Field 3: Ryland Estrada went 3-for-5 with a home run a double and two RBI to pace the Bulldogs(11-7) to a victory over the host Black Hawks (10-11). Madison Merrell finished 2-for-3 with an RBI, while tammate  Holmes also tallied two RBI, as well.

Apache Junction 17, Higley 11: Caitlin McDowell went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI and picked up a victory on the mound as the visiting Prospectors (8-11) used a six-run seventh inning to get the better of the Knights (7-5).

Poston Butte 27, San Tan Foothills 8: Led by Taylor Clark’s six RBI day, the Broncos (11-7) teed off on the Sabercats’ (10-11) pitching, notching 27 runs on 16 hits in the road win. Pitcher Ymari Conteras got the win for Poston Butte.

BASEBALL

Hamilton 11, Corona del Sol 6: Skyler Palermo and Austin Filiere blasted back-to-back solo home runs in a four-run second inning to push the Huskies (13-3) to victory over the visiting Aztecs (8-7). Palermo finished 2-for-3, Filiere was 1-3 and teammate Kyle Techloff was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI. Kent Hasler notched his fifth win in seven tries for Hamilton, while Corona del Sol’s Chris Tate took the loss.

Mountain Pointe 12, Marcos de Niza 0: The Pride’s Mike Weaver hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to cap a 3-for-3, four RBI game, to end the game via the mercy rule. Teammate Jake Alexander was also perfect from the plate going 2-for-2 with a home run, two doubles and two RBI, respectively. Brantly Bell (3-1) got the victory as Mountain Point improved to 12-4, while Jordan Goolsby took the loss as the Padres dropped to 9-12-1.

Queen Creek 12, Williams Field 2: Queen Creek used power hitting and "small ball" to cruise in five innings. Queen Creek used stolen bags and bunts successfully. Jaren Holmes had three hits, three RBI and three runs for the Bulldogs. Derek Arrington (double, triple, three runs) and Marcus Still (two triples, two RBI) also provided power for the Bulldogs. Williams Field top hitters include Jaxxon Fagg (2-for-3) and Hudson Whillock (2-for-3, run, RBI). Holmes scattered eight hits on the mound for Queen Creek but got out of innings and left runners on base consistently. The schools will square off again next week at Williams Field.
