Tribune softball rankings as of 4/9:

Division I

1. Red Mountain

2. Xavier

3. Gilbert

4. Basha

5. Mountain View

6. Desert Mountain

7. Horizon

8. Chandler

9. Centennial

10. Mountain Ridge

All kinds of shuffling going on here. Red Mountain ascends back to No. 1 with its sweep last week that included a 12-5 win over Gilbert in what was supposed to be the game of all games. Xavier continues to roll and is the other big winner this week by virtue of everyone else losing. While the Gators are off on Spring Break this week, they'll return to St. Mary's and Basha next week. Desert Mountain lost 6-5 to Pinnacle, so the Wolves fall a bit but not far, as does Chandler, which got beaten up by Desert Vista. Horizon beat Pinnacle, lost to Chaparral, while Mountain View twice won with ease. Glendale Mountain Ridge was rolling until it was shut out by Basha, and Centennial won so those two teams flip spots. Chaparral, Cienega and St. Mary's are knocking on the door.

Division II

1. Canyon del Oro

2. Sabino

3. Ironwood Ridge

4. Sunrise Mountain

5. Sahuaro

6. Casa Grande

7. Paradise Valley

8. Notre Dame

9. Saguaro

10. Salpointe Catholic

Similar to Division I, major shuffling going on here. CDO lost to Ironwood Ridge in a close game, but maintains its No. 1 (an oddity) an account of a close loss to a good team, plus CDO walloped Sabino earlier this season, even though Sabino beat a decent Salpointe Catholic team. Sunrise Mountain went from No. 2 to No. 4 after its shocking loss to Raymond S. Kellis. Salpointe's 0-for-3 week sends itself plummeting in the rankings (even though losses were to CSO, Sabino and Div. I Hamilton). Sahuaro was idle last week and Casa Grande won twice. P.V. lost to Phoenix Greenway but falls only one spot because Notre Dame lost to a good Desert Mountain team but the Saints rebounded with two wins thereafter and barely stay ahead of Saguaro.

Division III

1. Estrella Foothills

2. Winslow

3. Mingus

4. Benson

5. Bourgade Catholic

No changes here as everyone won out last week.

Division IV

1. Pusch Ridge Christian

2. NW Christian

3. Arizona Lutheran Academy

4. St. David

5. Phoenix Country Day

Another big shakeup here after the top two spots remain intact, which sets up a sweet matchup of NW Christian at Pusch Ridge on Tuesday. St. David falls to No. 4 after its lost to Div. III Benson, Phoenix Country Day lost big to Arizona Lutheran Academy, which enters the rankings at No. 3 after this win plus a win against Valley Christian. St. Johns was hammered 16-6 by Div. III Show Low and falls out, while Tempe Prep and about five other schools are on the verge of breaking into the rankings.
