Mesquite assistant Jake Barro is the new Scottsdale Prep football coach, according to the school.

Barro was a key component of Mesquite's revival under first-year coach Jim Jones in 2013, where the Wildcats sported an 11-2 record last season – the best football record in the school’s history.

Prior to coaching at Mesquite, Barro was the offensive coordinator at Seton Catholic from 2009-2012, where the Sentinels won the Division IV state championship in 2012. He began his coaching career under Jones at Red Mountain in 2008-2009, the school where Barro also played.

Barro replaces Will Munsil, who went 32-10 in the past four seasons at Scottsdale Prep.
