Tom Joseph has been offered the head football coaching position at Corona del Sol, multiple sources have told the Tribune.

Tempe district spokeswoman Linda Littell said there would be an announcement regarding the open position by the end of this week.

Joseph declined comment on Thursday.

Joseph was fired from Mountain View after finishing 5-6 and losing in the first round of the 5A-I state tournament this year. It was the first losing season in the program’s history.

In his nine seasons with Mountain View, Joseph won a state title, made three championship games and finished with a record of 92-23.

Before that, he was the coach at Marcos de Niza, a school in the Tempe district, from 1996-2001 and at Superior from 1992-1995. Joseph has a career record of 159-62.

Zane Zamenski was fired in early November after just one year as coach at Corona. He was investigated two separate times during his tenure on allegations of inappropriate conduct and making lewd comments toward players.

Zamenski replaced Gary Venturo, who retired after the 2009 season.
