Desert Vista, Hamilton lead golf regionals

 Phoenix Brophy’s David Lowe shot a 5-under 67 to lead after one day of the 5A-I Super Regional No. 1 at Maryvale Golf Course. The Broncos shot a 292 and are in second place behind Phoenix Desert Vista (290). Tucson Salpointe (296) and Mesa Red Mountain (298) round out the top four.

Chandler Hamilton leads the other Super Regional with a first-day score of 285.

The Huskies were led by Andrew Yun, who fired a 6-under 66 to hold a four-shot lead over teammate C.J. Kim. Phoenix Mountain Pointe is in second place at 290, five shots off the pace.

5A-II

Scottsdale Horizon’s Clayton Kasanovich shot a four-under 68, one shot behind leader Cody Anderson of Willow Canyon after one day of the 5A-II Super Regional No. 1 at Cave Creek Golf Course.

The Huskies are in second place after shooting a 296, eight shots behind leader Tucson Ironwood Ridge.

Tempe Marcos de Niza (322) is in eighth place, and Mesa Skyline (341) is 10th.

In the 5A-II Super Regional No. 2, Phoenix Pinnacle leads with a 294, followed by Mesa Desert Ridge at 298.

4A-II

Queen Creek leads the pack at 366 after the first day of play in the girls East Sky Region tournament at Queen Creek.

Seton Catholic is second at 396, followed by Arcadia (450), Williams Field (458), Higley (515) and Tempe (524).

Queen Creek has the top two individuals: Dawn Florence shot a 80 on Friday and Sandra Navarro is in second with an 85.

Erika Nimi of Williams Field (86), Kelsey Whitmore of Higley (87) and Natalie Samuels of Seton Catholic (91) round out the top five.
