Outlook: The 9th edition of this popular holiday tournament takes place at ASU, Grand Canyon University (where Pinnacle and Peoria Tolleson girls face each other along with three other Phoenix and West Valley matchups) and the University of Arizona for Tucson-area high schools.

The girls matchups at ASU will be scintillating, as a couple of the better local schools in Dobson and Chandler open the tournament.

The second game features two nationally-ranked teams in St. Mary's (No. 1 in Arizona, No. 3 in the country according to against Los Angeles Windwood (No. 3 in California, No. 4 in the country according to

The final two boys games of the night should also be the best of the bunch.

Basha is loaded with talent in Jaron Hopkins, Torren Jones and co., but must rebound from a loss to Highland last week, but must face a good Gilbert team that will need to handle the Bears' pressure defense.

The nightcap could be the best of the day (boys or girls) as Hamilton-Corona del Sol is a matchup of top-10 teams in Division I.

All games except the St. Mary's-Windward game will count towards each school's power points.

Remember that tipoff times become more approximate as the day goes on because of previous games occasionally run long.
