Larry Cain has been named the interim football coach at Gilbert Christian, athletic director Janet Oitzman said in an email.

Cain was an assistant last year to Jeff Cook, who resigned earlier this summer because he was moving for work reasons. The Knights went 5-3 last season, their first with a full varsity schedule.

Standout quarterback Nolan Cook moved with his father and transferred to Blue Ridge. Cook was an all-Division VI linebacker last year as a sophomore and an all-section running back. He carried the ball 161 times for 1,210 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also led the team in tackles with 61.
