Second-ranked Corona del Sol missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer as Hamilton held on for a 40-37 win in a Division I boys basketball game on Friday night.

Nate Walker hit a pair of free throws with eight seconds left for the deciding margin. Casey Benson had a game-high 20 points to lead the Aztecs. Michael Garcia scored 13 for the Huskies.

Gilbert 58, Dobson 57: Jaron Hopkins had a game-winning lay-up waived off at the buzzer as the Tigers escaped with the victory. Conner Helvig had 29 points for Gilbert to lead all scorers. Hopkins had 21.

Mesquite 62, Chandler 60: Tre Myles' layup at the buzzer off an inbounds play lifted Mesquite to a thrilling home victory over Chandler. The Wolves led by as many as eight points in the first half, but Mesquite's Nick Daley sparked a late second-quarter run that turned the game in Mesquite's favor. Zach Green led all scorers with 20 points, and Jordan Perry added 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Wildcats. Zach Manguso led Chandler with 18 points. Cameron Casey scored 15 and DaQuise Gaines added 12.

Chandler Prep 44, Salt River 43: Jake Clydesdale had 16 points as Chandler Prep held on for the win. Travis Farschman added 12. John Hill had 18 points to lead Salt River.

Girls basketball

Fountain Hills 58, Scottsdale Christian 11: The Falcons jumped out to a commanding lead early and cruised to the win. Kendyll Hellestrae had seven points for the Eagles.
