VX Roundup 1/10: Colson, Bailey, Johnson help Higley boys top Williams Field

Nick Colson had 16 points and 16 rebounds, and Mason Johnson and Quinn Bailey each added 13 points as Higley topped rival-Williams Field, 57-50, on Thursday night.

Higley also had a solid performance by Ryan Waters with 10 points.

In a tight back forth game, Higley was able to pull away in the fourth quarter. Williams Field hung with the Knights throughout and got 17 points from Anthony Smith and Johnny Bledsoe's 13 led the way for the Black Hawks.

Boys Soccer

Red Mountain 5, Desert Ridge 1: After allowing a Desert Ridge goal two minutes into the match, the Lions responded as Cody Lawrence scored three goals in the first half, and followed it up with a fourth in the second half. Another goal by Carson Frost was tacked on late.

Fountain Hills 3, Scottsdale Christian 2:  Zach Swain and Richard Barnes scored goals for SCA in the narrow loss, while Cole Lenderink assisted on both goals for the Eagles.

Girls Soccer

Valley Christian 8, Tempe Prep 0: Kelsey Reade recorded her fourth hat trick of the season and finished with four goals on the night. Sophia Ames and Keara Schrom both scored twice as well, and Schrom notched one from more than 25 yards out. Schrom also controlled the midfield defensively for the Trojans.
