Updated boys basketball rankings as of Monday, Dec. 10:

Division I

1. Cesar Chavez 8-0

2. Mesa 8-1

3. Gilbert 7-1

4. Desert Mountain 7-2

5. Corona del Sol 7-1

6. Dobson 6-2

7. Pinnacle 4-1

8. Brophy 8-1

9. Hamilton 8-2

10. Red Mountain 8-2

Cesar Chavez stays atop the rankings, but there is plenty of movement after that. Mesa has won eight straight since an opening-game loss to Hamilton and moves up to No. 2. Gilbert’s lone loss came by a point to the Jackrabbits, and the Tigers have now ascended higher than they have been all season to No. 3. Desert Mountain picked up a solid win over Mountain View on Tuesday to move up to No. 4, while Corona del Sol jumps back into the top-5 with an impressive home win over Dobson on Friday. The Mustangs drop three spots to No. 6, while Pinnacle falls to No. 7 after a loss to Deer Valley. Brophy moves up a pair of spots to No. 8 after a perfect week, while Hamilton makes its initial foray into the rankings and Red Mountain jumps back in. Mountain View and Marcos de Niza drop out.

Division II

1. Shadow Mountain 13-1

2. Nogales 8-1

3. Sierra Linda 9-1

4. Paradise Valley 6-2

5. Saguaro 6-3

6. Catalina Foothills 8-1

7. Poston Butte 8-2

8. Sahuaro 8-3

9. Thunderbird 5-2

10. Salpointe 6-3

Shadow Mountain has knocked off Saguaro and Paradise Valley recently, as the Matadors are showing that their talented freshmen are ready to compete at a high level. The loss dropped Paradise Valley three spots to No. 4, while Nogales and Sierra Linda hold steady at Nos. 2 and 3. Saguaro moves back into the top-5, while Catalina Foothills jumps into the rankings at No. 6 with an impressive win over Sahuaro. Poston Butte drops to No. 7 with a loss to Arcadia and Sahuaro to No. 8 with its loss. Thunderbird joins the rankings with a pair of good wins over Sunnyslope and Greenway, while Salpointe drops to No. 10 with a loss to Canyon del Oro. Greenway and Queen Creek drop from the rankings.

Division III

1. Gilbert Christian 7-0

2. Thatcher 6-0

3. Florence 7-0

4. Valley Christian 2-3

5. Combs 10-2

Gilbert Christian won the Christian Cup over the weekend, an impressive accomplishment which further cements the Knights at No. 1. Thatcher stays at No. 2, while Florence jumps up to No. 3 with a fast start. Valley Christian’s record doesn’t look great but two of its losses have come in close games against Gilbert Christian. Combs was solid last week but lost by a bucket to Florence to drop to No. 5.

Division IV

1. Duncan 5-1

2. Joy Christian 13-1

3. Desert Christian 9-1

4. Yuma Catholic 9-1

5. Arizona Lutheran 5-2

Duncan stays on top, while Joy Christian moves up a spot to No. 2, followed by Desert Christian. Yuma drops to No. 4, while Arizona Lutheran jumps back into the top-5, replacing Valley Lutheran.
