Phillips dominant on mound, at plate in Red Mountain's win

Siera Phillips dominated on the mound and at the plate to help No. 2 Red Mountain to a 10-0 win over No. 7 Yuma Cibola in five innings in the third round of the Division I state softball tournament Thursday at Rose Mofford Softball Complex.

Phillips struck out 10 batters, gave up five hits and walked none in her five innings of work. In the batter's box she went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI.

Alyssa Fernandez contributed two hits with one going over the fence for a grand slam in the fifth inning. Payton Kornfeind went 3-for-4 for the Mountain Lions.

Red Mountain will face No. 6 Horizon at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Rose Mofford Complex. Cibola will move down to the losers' bracket to face No. 3 Xavier at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Rose Mofford.
