Outlook: One might think Valley Christian coach Bill Morgan would be relieved to be playing Bourgade Catholic again, since his team handled the Eagles 33-14 on Oct. 6.

But in looking more closely at that game, Morgan’s reservations about facing Bourgade are understandable.

“They are physical and strong, we’re physical and strong, the styles make a difficult matchup,” Morgan said. “I’m hoping to have better offensive production this week.”

Bourgade enters tonight’s game riding a three-game win streak, including a 46-21 win over Wellton Antelope in the first round of the playoffs. Quarterback Michael Vyles threw for 134 yards and two touchdowns in the first meeting with Valley Christian and has 13 scoring passes this season.

Valley Christian threw for only 15 yards in the first meeting between the two teams, but Troy Roffi rushed for 169 yards and three touchdowns to carry the load. Valley Christian will try to get its entire offense untracked this week, and much of that responsibility rests on the play of quarterback Rob Brown. If he is involved in the offense, the Trojans can score points in bunches. If he is taken away, they have to work much harder to score points.
