Combine D1 & D2 in 73 school division with 12 six school regions. Winners get auto bid and the rest by power (seeding) points. 32 game playoff (1 extra week needed) to decide champion. If schools bolt to D3 than increase playoff size for D3 to either 24 or 32 teams too. Not much difference in caliber of play between D1 & 2 except for elite teams like Hamilton and Mountain Pointe. Venture to say teams like Chap and Ironwood Ridge and Centennial would give them a great fight.5 months ago
What?...No story on the best championship game of the day; Ironwood Ridge destroying Centennial.6 months ago
Don't hang your heads down guys; tonight the luck was all with Desert Edge. [wink]6 months ago
These AIA seedings are a joke! Cactus ahead of Saguaro who lost to Saguaro by a ton this season. Mountain View ahead of Desert Mountain with Desert Mountain holding a better record and beating Mountain View earlier this season. Cibola to get into the playoffs because it doesn't plays Yuma opponents.
Need to expand the playoff format to at least 24 teams, break down these stupid sections to 6 teams regions; winners of regions get automatic bid, and finally, disclose or get rid of the present seeding method. 7 months ago
You need to reverse the score on the Chaparral @ Horizon game and you'll be batting 1000. Chap is going down this week and also next week so they will probably finish a 500 team and will miss the playoffs. Darn - [wink]7 months ago
Corrections to previous post. Unfortunately this web site does not allow for editing a post when it is posted so another post is necessary here.
Previous post was partially: Let's think about the fact that forfeits are not factored into the equation. The only thing that is missing if there is a forfeit is point differential. Does this mean that point differential is really being used and we are not being told the truth concerning how team placement in seedings are generated? Forfeits are not counted in the Freeman Ratings because point differential is counted in the Freeman Ratings.7 months ago

Coaches are not going to stand for this lack of transparency by the AIA. Teams that are obvious playoff teams will have no gripe, however, teams that are on the bubble surely will have a problem not being able to prove why they didn't make it in. Also, seeding order will be a problem for all teams concerned.

You have to take a closer look at Cienega down south because they have a pretty impressive season going. Might want to slip them ahead of ND because yes, they have had a tough season, but their looses to those impressive teams has been by a huge margin each time.7 months ago
All of that crying coming from Tempe HS and the Tempe state legislator was a knee jerk reaction I guess. It's great that these players are mended enough in one week to have stellar performances against Coronado HS. I know that Saguaro's name has been dragged through the mud for nothing, but no apology or retraction on the part of the Tempe principal. Oh well, now at least we all know that it was Tempe pulling the plug to save face. Honor at Tempe? 8 months ago
Without their coach to guide them this year they will be a 500 team. Sorry Titans.9 months ago
