That was a silly letter. People need to stop pretending the Democrats and Republicans are different; they aren't. Reagan didn't raise taxes on the poor and middle class; Congress did. Bush didn't run up deficits; Congress did. Sure, presidents, like magicians may redirect your eyes to other issues while Congress does the work - but it's truly a bipartisan effort that is destroying our nation. Neo-Cons exist within both parties - you can identify them as neo-cons because they love spending money, they love war, and they find impediments to their power as insulting and unnecessary. One could say that most of the government is made up of Neo-cons - if they didn't have a majority then we wouldn't have perpetual wars, out-of-control spending, and the constant assault to our rights/liberties. In fact, most alive today have never seen a country out of debt, not in war, and experience the true liberties protected within the Constitution - that generation has passed. Yet here we are, thinking Republicans or Democrats are the solution when they are in fact, the very diseases destroying us. And instead of embracing a real solution we continue to choose between the lesser of two evil cancers.
Don't believe me that the parties are the same? Then ask yourself. How is it that one party can hold a "SUPER" majority within the House, Senate, and President yet still, party platform legislation has a way of going nowhere. Yet, once there is a balance, the 'Controversial' issues are introduced and the fight begins. If a party really cared about the issue, common sense would dictate they introduce these 'controversial' issues when other side is unable to stop it - but that's not what happens.
We need to stop blaming Republicans, stop blaming Democrats, and START blaming these individual representatives for NOT representing the interests of their district. As it stands right now, nearly all Republicans & nearly all democrats are working for wall street - and not mainstreet. We as voters need to end that influence, not through more nonsensical legislation, but by paying attention and voting these bums out.

Our government is like a drug addict; giving it more drugs isn't going to make the problem any better. Our government needs rehab; it's addicted to stealing other people money. Addicted to spending more than it steals. Addicted to lying to voters on what their spending their money on. Addicted to being deceitful and malicious resorting to even violence if they don't get what they want... Our government, it's officials and high-ranking employees are addicts. They need help before they bleed us to death.Jul 7, 2011
Interesting twist. However, why does a so-called free society need a government with so many secrets? It's strange how we now live in a time when political candidates and elected officials make claims for wanting greater transparency and openness yet it takes hackers and whistleblowers to expose a web of secrets and deceit.
What's worse is that instead of Americans asking questions regarding the volume, nature, and reason for these secrets the national/state spin machine wants us to be empathetic - or worse, criminalize people for exposing government abuse. This article is a simple example of that. There was a time in our nation when it was patriotic to stand up against wrong, government abuse, and injustice - today, it seems unpatriotic to take a stand in opposition of the state.
This whole things smells of irony really. Americans want to keep government whistleblowers and hackers at bay because it's illegal - yet where is that same commitment to justice when it comes to how our own government operates? We openly cheer and celebrate our policy of preemptive war, invading other countries on a hunch, spend trillions upon trillions of dollars doing it, all WITHOUT a legal decree authorizing it. I have always found the policy of allowing the government to routinely break the law yet not it's citizens far more authortarian than democratic. But, I guess that's what Americans want these days - less freedom and more totalitarianism.
In the spirit of July 4, 1776 I encourage everyone to read the Declaration of Independence. It may remind some of you why this country was created and why government secrets, regardless of how small or insignificant, isn't representative of a government by the people. In fact, terrorist work in shadows and keep secrets - a government in the right should be able to work in the openly and proudly.Jul 3, 2011
A law that says it's illegal to be illegal... What kind of nonsense is this?? How about instead of passing a law that requires law enforcement to enforce the law - they pass a law restricting the IRS from functioning in Arizona until the federal government does it's job and protects our border??

Bombing Libya was in the budget... Protecting our border isn't. Rebuilding Afganistan is in the budget... Taking care of Americans isn't. Rebuilding Iraq is in the budget... Taking care of America isn't. There's plenty of room for war with Iran, potentially Pakistan, and maybe even Syria - but America, well, we need juggle the budget to find money... I'm just shocked all you people just keep electing the same people over and over again expecting different results... Just ridiculous.May 10, 2011
Guns aren't just to protect yourself against the average criminal... More importantly, the people are armed as a hedge against tryanny. Although, it doesn't really matter since our nation is pretty much being flushed down the toilet and the only freedoms we have left are those enumerated in the bill of rights and our government is constantly trying to figure out ways to remove those too... But you all just keep waving your flag and act as if everything is all right. Oh, just don't wave your flag on Mohave County property, it's against the law...Mar 8, 2011
Franks is such a good and loyal neo-conservative... I'm sure he will do whatever his party leadership tells him to do. Mar 7, 2011
It's pretty sad the lengths people will go to just to work a minimum wage job... Thank goodness our law enforcement was able to spend hundreds of hours investigating and arresting these hardened restaurant criminals... But, no need to worry about the Meth being smuggled across the border - that's someone elses problem - you keep focusing on fast food workers, the real problem in American society. Thank good AZ law enforcement knows that.Mar 4, 2011
Once again, we write more laws to regulate the live, behavior, and diminish privacy of those who are here versus protecting the citizens... Why in the world do we have such an enormous defense budget if it's not going to be used to protect Americans in America... Protect OUR border... Not Iraq's... Not Korea's... Not Afganistans... Not the 30 other nations we have armed forces... Protect America... It just seems silly that we'll grope every airline passenger travelling domestically (and not travelling internationally into the US) yet allow MILLIONS of people to flow between our southern border... And so-called self proclaimed conservatives think these additional laws do anything to stem the flow of illegals coming here...
Self-proclaimed conservatives need to take a moment and reflect where their ideology is rooted because it certainly isn't rooted in Locke, Smith, Jefferson era small-government thinking... When the modern conservative (and modern liberals) have more in common with Stalin, Hitler, and Mao they should realize they've been misled some point along way... Jan 31, 2011
