mnjcpa, reconceptualizing the school system as you propose is an interesting idea, but even if you eliminated the dept of education I think you'd still be far short of the kind of funding such change would require. So we're faced with spending more money on what hasn't worked or even more money on a new approach. There's not an easy answer, but you're right - more ideas from more people can only help whereas more bickering does nothing for our students.Yesterday
The author's point about the Obama administration's apathy towards the 2014 anniversary, that is.
His points that the education system is failing and history teaching inadequate are no-brainers.4 days ago
Again with the taking sides on something that should be as apolitical as educating our youth? If you believe the system's sucked for the last several decades, can you honestly say it's all the fault of the other side? Both sides have been in position to correct it, right, or has your side just been dominated on this front? Get real.
As for the author's point unless, he can see the future it amounts to nothing more than preemptive whining.4 days ago
mnjcpa, the letter writer references Planned Parenthood (abortion) and Fast and Furious (bungled intelligence operation). Benghazi was a terrorist attack, not a bungled intelligence operation. Therefore, I was not talking about Benghazi. A 10-year-old might not understand that, but an adult should.2 weeks ago
No, mnjcpa, it's easy to understand the logical leap when you're not thinking critically.2 weeks ago
c) None of the above. Look up hypocrisy.
I used to be amazed at the logical leap from gun control to both abortion and a bungled intelligence operation. Until it kept happening.2 weeks ago
Heh, 'Oby'. Good one, 'BJ'.2 months ago
I can't tell if you're not following these dialogues consciously, mnjcpa, but either way other than to correct your falsely stating that I put down President Reagan, I'm done with this one.3 months ago
mnjcpa - I don't begrudge anyone their success when gained legitimately. You wrongly assume I do (this and your previously thinking I was counting Romney's wealth as some sort of character flaw before the election come to mind), and lump me in with some "crowd" about which you believe, probably also wrongly, that you actually know volumes. Talk about speaking volumes.3 months ago
mnjcpa - who said anything about blame? Your missing my point in bringing up W, coupled with your seeing snark in an honest offer of congratulations on Rich's financial success, speaks volumes about you, actually. Whereas my telling Rich that his financial success, as good for him as it might be, is irrelevant when we're talking about his claim that illegals may have given Obama the election win rather than AMERICA having chosen him legitimately, only says about me that I can stick to the point.
Believe it or not I wasn't being snarky when I said you'd said all you needed to in your first sentence, either. If you've sworn to not be swayed from your position, what does it matter what statistics you or I've got, or whether they're valid (show me the voter turnout for these suspect districts over the last six or seven elections, for example, or anything but a one instance sample set...)?3 months ago
