• The first venter has truly missed what's important in life. Every single veteran who has served honorabl,y as well as anyone currently doing so, has earned our utmost respect hundreds of times over. I mourn the passing of one and all. To me, each one is a personal hero.

• I'm not that confident that crooks who have been hiring illegally for years will be that eager to use the new cheaper, easier program when it's even cheaper and easier to continue breaking the law. Penalties for hiring illegally need to be increased to include mandatory prison sentences of at least 6 months straight time per illegal (consecutive rather than concurrent) and fines covering the total cost of deportation for each illegal alien. And yes, NothingButTheTruth is right. We need to seal the border and deport everyone who is unlawfully present. No ifs, ands or buts, just do it.

• This whole operation is the most blatantly evil abuse of power I can recall in my life. No one who is aware of even scant details can believe those who planned and/or oversaw it have an iota of common sense. Joe Blow sitting around a picnic table could easily foresee ugly consequences. The planners of this operation should be held criminally liable for every resultant death.

• Vent 5: Early yesterday morning Stuart Varney predicted that because of Obama's Monday night speech the credit rating would drop. A few hours later Reuters came out with a poll of economists predicting precisely that. Later in the day the word was the administration was going to the agencies begging not to be downgraded. Hopefully that will work. I hate the tension but I don't agree with giving Obama a free ride through the election though. He talked about Reagan's 18 increases that don't average out to even 6 months each.

• Thanks, azpatriotmom, it seems some concepts are just too difficult for many to understand. How long have people been unable to understand that what is asked of us has nothing to do with government? Or is it a matter of not wanting to do what has been asked?

• When having a man (usually one who doesn't work and frequently illegal) is more important than your children it might be a good idea to give up your kids rather than become complicit in a murder. We see this same scenario time after time and it's getting way too old.

• My, oh my, I haven't checked EVT in too long. When I first read about the Utah Compact I shook my head. What a totally stupid idea. Or at least it's stupid to those of us who believe in obedience to the law and don't want to be suckered into supporting people who break one law after another with never a second thought. I realized the Compact was probably the brainstorm of large business owners who prefer not to have to pay the going wage and benefits. This leaves them extra money to put in the plate of whatever church while also allowing them to feel Christian for helping the poor. That the churches would buy into such a scheme tells me everything I need to know about them. Whatever it takes to get more money and more members is good with them. Once upon a time the churches provided a moral foundation and encouraged obedience to the laws of man as well as the higher laws. I guess that time is long gone.

• First Venter forgot the theft of tax revenues subsidizing people who shouldn't be here and theft of the economic benefit to our cities, states and country when remittances are sent to other countries.
