Ironic: A Democratic corporation commission would have pushed for MORE residential solar power, which would have rendered the question of free line expansions moot. It would also have increased the value of homes, especially in remote areas, and made it possible to build new communities far from power plants.
So WHY would Realtors be against this?
Perhaps, Howie, you should look into just how well-coordinated the Realtors' IE campaign was with the Republican candidates... Their ads used the same photos of the three candidates as the candidates ads did, and they included unattributed quotes directly from the candidates.
Finally, don't forget the involvement of ALEC in the mailers... The photos of former ALEC Chair Bob Burns were larger and more prominently featured than Chris Stump and Susan Bitter Smith, and Exelon Energy, a corporate member of ALEC with no ties to Arizona, contributed to the mailers as well.
Howie, you should also check if the "independent" mailers were also printed by Americopy, the same firm that printed the campaign flyers. The firm also employs Corporation Commission Chairman Pierce, who also happened to be the three Republicans' campaign manager.
Americopy and Pierce were fined $29,000 for misusing Clean Elections funding during the primnary race... on flyers printed and mailed by Americopy. No, this doesn't stink too much.5 months ago
Nicely stated, Andrew. It's curious that your call for voters to be more concerned with a candidate's qualifications than party affiliation is met by partisan rants. Some people just refuse to look at what their poor decision making has done to the election process. While pretty much everyone wants educational opportunity and more jobs, Arizona's party-line voters continue to fill the state house with social radicals bent on de-funding education and thus scaring away potential employers.
This kind of partisan voter blindness has enabled outside interests like ALEC, TGI Lobbying and the private prison industry to hijack the state's legislative agenda. Yet, rather than taking blame (or even credit) for corrupting the process, the partisan voters continue to lash out at anyone who points out the fruits of their laziness.
Rather than look in a mirror and admit the damage they're causing, I'm confident that these partisans will instead call me a communist, blame Obama, rail against some small point in my post, or just get generally verbally abusive. Anything but examine how their blind party loyalty is setting our state back.Mar 1, 2012
If we are ever going to address illegal immigration, we need to have a realistic idea of what we're up against. That means public officials shouldn't lie to us about the size or nature of the problem. No official report, agency, or law enforcement group agrees with Jan Brewer's statement that 'most illegals are drug runners.' No one can offer any proof that this statement is true. In fact, evidence proves it's FALSE.
Uttering this during the debate without any proof was a foolish mistake. Repeating it Friday and making it a centerpeice of her campaign shows Brewer's desperate inability to admit she's been caught in a lie.
Lying in a debate aqnd repeating the lie does not help us have a realistic idea of what we're up against. But Jan hopes it will keep us from thinking about what a horrible job she's done on the budget and everything else, too.
Set aside immigration for a second. Brewer's done a rotten job and deserves to be fired.
We're voting for Goddard.

Oh, the outrage that Secretary of State Clinton didn't check with our non-elected governor before making a statement! It may have been the wrong venue for the announcement, but come on, Jan, EVERYBODY saw this coming.
Your lack of leadership has us at the brink of bankruptcy: the only thing keeping Arizona afloat is federal stimulus money, and you have the nerve to act surprised and shocked that the federal government is going to stand up for the constitution? Get real.
Jan may have thought this would help her look Gubernatorial... it just makes her look like a Goober.Jun 17, 2010
